Founded in NYC in 1991 by Randy Mani (former ATP Pro), RMTA is renowned in the USTA / Eastern world of tennis as a top caliber tennis academy – proven by an Alumni List that punches way above its weight class!
RMTA is all about building the complete player by emphasizing fundamentals – correct technique, great form, stroke mechanics, footwork. Add physical conditioning, movement, agility and strength training, strategy and tactics, abundant match play, post-match analyses – all converge to create players who are match-tough, self-aware and fit to play in all the right ways.
The team of knowledgeable Coaches are skilled in bringing out the best in elite, high-performing tennis juniors who aspire to attain high standards and exceptional results.
High-performance Training is undertaken individually or in elite squads. With full access to Hardscrabble Club’s on-site clay courts, hard courts, extensively equipped gym, and a nearby track – it’s uncomplicated to focus one’s mind and bring one’s efforts to fruition all in one place. All training is offered year-round, with indoor and outdoor courts on hand.
Individualized training plans are created, to accommodate distance-learning too if need be.
Weekly in-house USTA Tournaments and UTR events are scheduled year-round – an easy way to put a player’s progress to the test. Summer travel teams to ITA (Collegiate) Tournaments are also on the schedule.
The Academy is skilled and experienced in nurturing players, even from their formative stages on, developing in them a love and understanding of the game of tennis. College bound? One of RMTA’s main goals is to match each junior with the college that is the best fit both academically and tennis-team wise, if that is the hope/dream/ambition. Services offered include advice on tennis resume building, college recruiting video, being the intermediary for communicating with college coaches – in general, developing your ‘roadmap’ and helping you navigate the entire recruiting process. Randy Mani
Former ATP world-ranked Pro, Randy’s career highlights include qualifying to play in the French Open (1982) and Wimbledon (1982 and ’83), among a whole lot of other pro tournaments. After his globe-trotting days, Randy settled in NYC and founded his academy (RMTA) in 1991. In 2002 he launched his own tennis club in Brewster, NY – Hardscrabble Club. Randy is inspired by his students and is dedicated to the art of coaching tennis, as is evident in all the programs spearheaded by him. His students include several juniors who achieved top Sectional, National and/or ITF rankings and played on Div 1, Div 2 and Div 3 NCAA tennis teams. A few played on the ATP and WTA tours. For a while, Randy kept up by playing Father & Son USTA National tournaments, and the duo got themselves a national ranking! Randy has served on the USTA/Eastern’s Board of Junior Player Development for many years, and also on the USTA Facility Owner’s Conference. He is also Chairman of the NWJTL (Northern Westchester Junior Tennis League), a long-standing inter-club tennis league for juniors.
Randy has a BA in English Literature. Fun Facts: In his college years he represented his university on 5 different teams/events, always the consummate athlete! He adores his 2 Labrador Retrievers! And – golf anyone?!
